Some deep pondering

How?  How can I want something so bad and well......

This is a dismal post, so be forewarned.

I stepped on the scales this morning.  Dismal.  I almost broke into tears.  My weight is up.  It could be water retention from the monthly ick.  Or, it could be the McDonalds breakfast that I had yesterday morning.   It could be water retention from the fact that I've drank almost no water.  It could be partly because I had already had breakfast before I weighed myself.  It could be the raspberry cobbler I ate last night for dinner. Or the cookie dough that I snitched at my mom's house on Saturday.  Lots of reasons.

My foot has been bothering me of late.  It could be the fact that I moved furniture and cleaned on Saturday and Sunday......barefoot.  It could just be nature and the way it's going to be from now on.  Or it could be the impact that I'm putting onto my feet.  (however, it's the tarsal nerve that is bothering me most.....the heel is just sporadic).   Whatever the cause....DISMAL.

I love the runners high I feel after I get back from a run.  I LOVE the way running makes me feel.  But is it worth it if I"m going to continue to feel pain in this foot?  Ok, being honest....I didn't run this weekend and my foot is bothering me more than had I gone running...so maybe I'm just looking for a scape goat.  Who knows.  I do know this.......I am going to run my Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day.  After that I am going to reevaluate.  I may HAVE to go more toward a bike or something with less impact.  I may have to decide that 3-5 miles is my limit...and maybe at the most 3 times a week.   I know I don't want to be in pain and I don't like this foot pain!

That said, I wrapped my foot .....both for the dorsum pain (which is where my tarsal nerve bothers me) and for the plantars fasciitis.  I was worried.  My foot twinged a bit....but I'm glad I went..I needed the stress relief!!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear you have so much pain in your foot. But I think it's a good idea to reevaluate running after Thanksgiving. Maybe it's good to give your foot a break from running for a couple of weeks and then start over again. You are running for you and nobody else so it doesn't matter if you take a break.

I got foot pain yesterday during my walk and when I got up this morning for my run I could hardly stand on it so I skipped the run and take it easy today. At this moment (8.30 am) it's okay so we'll try again tomorrow :)

Hang in there, it's going to be allright, you find something that works for you.

I'm very sorry you are in pain again. But all along I've felt there is no shame in listening to your body, and adjusting accordingly. You can get endorphin highs from other types of exercise, that won't tax your foot as much. I know you liked the mantra of pushing through the pain, but there are times when it is just not prudent. A body gives off pain as a signal, and it's one you must respect. I hope you start listening, and find another mode of exercise that will still be challenging, enriching, yet more gentle to your body's needs. :)

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time. You're right to reevaluate. Maybe after giving yourself some time to heal you'll be able to go back to running.

If I was more eloquent, I'd say just what Gwen said.

Plus--I don't run because my own joints can't take it. You're not the only one who has trouble with running. Many of us do. :D

Sending vibes for healing your way!

Sorry about your foot. Have you been to an actual foot doctor? What was their advice? I think re-evaluating and maybe getting a professional (or another professional) opinion after Thanksgiving is a good idea. Just don't give up!

For me, not running isn't an option, but for you? You like other activities as much if not more than running, so I think it would be okay for you to cut way, way back. And maybe if you take a long break, your foot will get better and you can think about running again later.

*Knock on wood* I haven't had any foot pain for almost a week now. I'm hopeful. :-)
